In Makati Palace which is the 4star hotel, and the first stop in our itinerary, the check-in procedures are 1. They need to have the complete registration form of the guests; 2. They are requiring to have the passport or any valid I.D. of the guests; 3. The guest should deposit or pay money for the rooms and services that they’ll be using and; 4. The hotel issue keycards to their guests after the procedures, while in Edsa Shangri-la they have their special software installed in their system which able the guest to be checked in just 3 minutes. The software is a complete online form that automatically categorizes the guest on their guest list, expected guests and the cancelled guest. The check-out procedures in Makati Palace are 1. They prepare the guest folio before the actual checking out time of the guest; 2. The hotel coordinates to housekeeping for any consumption, the housekeeping will check if the guests used the payable amenities inside the room such as sodas, chips, liquors, etc. in the mini bar.; 3. The receptionist will receive the cash or any other type of payment by the guest and; 4. Lastly, the guest’s clearance, while in Edsa Shangri-la they also use their system which they also used in checking in a guest.
One of the landmarks in Makati Palace that was showed to us during or ocular on the hotel was the Rockwell and the Power plant mall situated near the hotel area, you could see it on selected rooms as the view from the window. While in Edsa Shangri-la, one of the landmarks there is the SM Megamall, also the Manila Peninsula Hotel and the Saint Francis Square.
In Makati Palace we observed that the housekeeping and the kitchen part are closely the same as the back of the house in Edsa Shangri-la, but somehow differ when it comes to its scope, because obviously the Edsa Shangri-la has the larger place and bigger accommodation so they have double of what the Makati Palace offers when it comes to the back of the house, for example the time of cleaning and the number of foods they prepare. While in the front of the house, which is the front office, security, and other facilities staffs, in Makati Palace I noticed that they have the lower qualifications, they didn’t hire staffs which are fluent in speaking English language which is the demand in the hotel industry, unlike in Edsa Shangri-la they hired staffs who speak English and other languages fluently, even the kitchen head in Edsa Shangri-la speaks very well in English, but the similarity in both hotels are they don’t require more on physical appearance, they just need the best attitudes.
When it comes to the staffs of the Makati Palace and Edsa Shangri-la we noticed that all of their employees are hospitable, jolly, respectful, dedicated and educated. They greet us wherever we see them, they extend their hands to their guests and they give the guest their best service. The employees in Makati Palace are dressed in a presentable, smart and a neat uniform, the problem is we can’t distinguished what department the staffs belong because it seems that they have the same uniforms. We can’t tell whether the staff comes from the banquet sales or in the front desk because they were all wearing the same uniforms, while in Edsa Shangri-la they have the corporate, elegant, categorized, clean and smart uniforms, we saw on their lobby the front desk employees, the ones who accept guests, they were wearing a traditional dress, I don’t know if it is a Chinese or Filipino dress, they were on their places right after the door and ready to greet the guests.
The amenities that we used were 1. Bathroom amenities, complete package of luxury soaps, signature shampoos, conditioner, bath gel and lotions; 2. The bathtub with the hot and cold water; 3. The very huge bathrobe and the slippers; 4. The superior size bed with a very comfortable and soft mattress; 5. And lastly our very cold and luxurious room. It made us enjoyed the whole stay on the hotel.
The function and leisure services that we really enjoyed during our stay in Edsa Shangri-la were first the Jacuzzi, we tried the Jacuzzi inside the gym on the last day of our stay, it was really great and so awesome, I won’t forget that experience, second was the Sauna room also inside the gym, it was my first time in a sauna room and it was also a very nice experience, third was the steamed room, we also tried that for 15mins and then we go to the fourth, the swimming pool with the 9feet deep water. And lastly the function room that we used, where we had our full meals, from snacks, dinner unto the breakfast, they served the best dishes in the metro. Great thing we tried all the foods that they served.
The foods, in The Makati Palace we were served a snack meal, it was a cake and a juice then we had our lunch on the same place, they served as in a buffet style servings, different dishes of fish, pork, chicken, dumplings, and beef. The food were not the usual food that we can see in the restaurants, maybe some of them were hotel specialties, and to be honest all the food served to us were all so great. When we got in Edsa Shangri-la during our seminar they served us one of the most delicious food that I’ve tasted, it was during our coffee break, a Danish pastry specialty of the hotel and the one with I think salmon inside a soft taco. It was unforgettable; they have the brewed coffee in the corner and tea. It was self services, and on the evening we were served with a steak and mashed potatoes and red wine as our drink. Most of us weren’t satisfied because most of us aren’t used of having dinner without rice. For our breakfast, it was another full meal, different pastries were served and an omelet station was provided, fresh fruit juices and muffins.
The first hotel was The Makati Palace hotel which is a 4star hotel in Makati, the guide said that it was a 3star when they started and became a 4star during the past years. It was opened only on 2002 so it was a bit new. The second hotel was Edsa Shangri-la hotel a 5star hotel which is very famous and one of the most luxurious hotels here in our country, the only restaurant that we visited was TGI Fridays in Midtown, Robinsons Ermita, somewhere in Malate. It was also a very expensive restaurant that offers American foods and has a very unique interior, inspired by the American life.
The bed preparation is very detailed that you need a week of training before you get the perfect arrangement, it is meticulous so the guests will have the satisfaction they want, the bed in Edsa Shangri-la is a layer of so many linens, duvets, and mattresses imported from Europe. Their pillows are specials, so soft because it has duck feathers inside. You can request for a different type of pillow, they provide pillows for sensitive guests or guests with different allergies.
The hotels that we’ve visited are all inspiring, I think they all passed the Department of Tourism’s requirements; they reached the proper standard on their own categories. They are all professionals and skilled, the whole experience is very satisfying and memorable. The Hotel Operation and Administration Tour is worth the cost.

What drives me to blog?

The scene yesterday! haha! What was that again Mitch and Sab?! haha! the stupidity we did last night at SM san lazaro... it goes like this.

Me, Mitch, Sab, Nina and Steph went to SM yesterday to buy 3boxes of doughnuts to be our token to be given early this morning, since it was around 8pm we decided to had our dinner at the mall instead of going home hungry, but Nina didnt want to eat there for some acceptable reasons... haha! so Steph was forced to go home too and just cook dinner at their dorm. So it was only me, Sab and Mitch who ate at the mall. We were so hungry and tired with our feet dying because of the pain brought by our high heels. We just want to seat and eat, but of course we also want to eat somewhere affordable. We choose from, Mcdo, KFC, Greenwich, Chef Wongs, Chef d' Angelo, Burger King, Aristocrat, Max's, Kenny Rogers, Yellow Cab and Tokyo Tokyo. Seriously we went through all of it. We just cant decide, but the one that we really like was BK ever since we saw that theres a BK in SM, but we were thinking that it will cost us a lot if we eat there. After an hour of roaming at the mall, the end point is still BK. haha! we were craving for whopper burgers! haha! but the stupid thing popped up when we ordered our meal.. we all ordered chicken haha! because of that unending searching for food, all of us didnt think that we will be satisfied with burgers only. We just realized the stupid part when we were already eating, Mitch said: "chicken lang din pala ang kakainin natin, dapat ngKFC nlng tau mas mura pa." haha! and then me and Sab was like: "shit oo nga, wrong decision!" So the whole time we were regreting and irritated. We took an hour deciding what food to eat, haha! We just made a joke about it, i said im going to blog this event, and Mitch mentioned about blogspot, sounds interesting i asked about it and i thought of making my own account. And now im doing my first blog. :) Oh theres still this scene. While im on the halfway eating my meal, i noticed that there was a f****n hair on my chicken! haha! it was so gross!!! I called the waiter and of course you know what happened, they changed it haha! i had a new meal... and i finished it, so for me the decision we made wasnt that bad anymore because i got double of what i paid haha! We all agreed that the only one who made the right decision was Nina. haha! Because she decided not to go with us.

That makes the history of my blogging career! harhar! :D
...a piece of stupidity...
